Lip Blushing is a form of semi-permanent makeup. Essentially, it is a cosmetic tattoo of the lips that enhances the beauty of the natural lip colour, improving the shape of the lips, giving definition and the illusion of fullness. A colour is selected from a huge range of fabulous shades to either blend with your natural lip or match your favourite lipstick colour.

In our youth, lips are soft, full, and have a great natural tone. As the ageing process begins, we start to lose the shape, contour, fullness, and colour of our lips.

Lip Blushing can enhance your current lip shape or lip shade. It can also re-shape lips, visually increase the size of lips, and adjust the shade. Fuller lips can be achieved without the use of fillers using Lip Blushing. It is not recommended to have the procedure performed with existing remnants of lip fillers or injections as this will alter the result once the fillers wear off.

A touch up is recommended 6-8 weeks after the initial procedure to refine the lips. Price includes consultation, complimentary 6-8 week touch up and aftercare kit.

PRE TREATMENT

If you suffer or are prone to cold sore breakouts at present or anytime in the past, we recommend taking either lysine or a cold sore preventative 7 to 10 days prior to having your Lip Blush appointment, as this will reduce the likelihood of cold sores appearing as a result of the lips healing.

On the day of the procedure an anaesthetic is applied to the lips before the artist begins the consult and design process.

As the tattoo is healing the pigment will deepen in colour so it is best to plan your tattoo around any important events such as weddings, birthday parties or important business meetings. If you are unsure, please check with your consultant before booking.

The following restrictions are to ensure your skin is in the best possible condition for an amazing Lip Blush procedure:

• DO NOT work out on the day of the procedure as the body heat will expand the pores.
• DO NOT drink coffee or anything with caffeine on the day of the procedure.
• DO NOT take Fish Oil, Aspirin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen, Omega-3, unless medically necessary, 48-72 hours prior to the procedure. (Tylenol or acetaminophen is okay).
• DO NOT drink alcohol 24 hours before or after the procedure.
• AVOID heavy sunlight and especially sunburn 3 days before the procedure. The skin should not be in the process of healing before the procedure.

POST TREATMENT

The pigment is most dramatic 24 – 48 hours after the initial treatment, following which the outer layer of dry skin will begin to peel. Lip Blush after-care is minimal. Refrain from touching the area with fingertips and apply a nourishing antiseptic cream twice daily. It is also important to avoid exfoliants, oils, lipsticks and spicy foods for at least one week. A retouch appointment is recommended within 6 – 8 weeks as this ensures the artist is able to correct any fading inconsistencies and to ensure the lip line looks crisp. This is also an opportunity to make any minor colour changes. After both sessions, you should expect your lips to fade anywhere from 25–50% and peeling to occur for 3–7 days depending on your skin type.

The Lip Blush generally lasts between 3–5 years however this depends on your skin’s chemistry, active ingredients in your skincare and exposure to the elements. Please allow 7 days before applying any makeup to areas treated by cosmetic tattoo.
